Aid piling up at the airports – civil emergency still in force – military operation continuing

The death toll in Indonesia today stands at more than 94,000 and still continues to rise. According to Government information, 270,000 people are currently in refugee camps in Aceh.

According to latest BBC information, the confirmed death toll for Indonesia has skyrocketed to almost 80,000.

The Vice President calculated that the reconstruction costs would amount to 1 billion US Dollar. 150 million US Dollar were needed for immediate relief operations.

The earth quake that struck on Sunday was the biggest of its kind during the last 40 years. Its epicentre was located 150 km off the South-western coastline of the Indonesian province of Aceh.
